Team Bios

Jacqueline Potvin-Boucher
Jacqueline Potvin-Boucher is a project manager with the Chair and works in the area of youth mental health promotion. Some of her many successes have included: Mental Health First Aid For People Working With Youth (designed for the Alberta Mental Health Board), Transitions: Student Reality Check (a program that aids students in the transition to post-secondary life), as well as the Siblings program, which helps siblings better understand mental illness.

Christina Carew, ABC
Christina Carew is the advisor to the Chair on all areas of communication. Her role is to provide increased exposure to programs and materials developed by the Chair, as well as build strategic relationships with key partners. Through marketing and communications functions, she gets the information out there in a measurable way using traditional and non-traditional methods.

Dr. Iliana Garcia – Ortega
Iliana Garcia–Ortega is a psychiatrist who has recently completed her fellowship with the International Psychiatry Section. She is currently working on a number of research projects as well as translating and providing cultural context for many of the Chair’s educational materials for use in Latin America under the auspices of the Pan American Health Organization.

Dr. David Gardner
David Gardner is a professor at Dalhousie University and a researcher. David’s interests include pharmacoepidemiology, evidence-based clinical practice, the pharmacotherapy of mood discorders and schizophrenia, and collaborative practice. He aids the chair in the development and review of programs related to medications and youth.

Amy MacKay
Amy MacKay is the glue that holds the office together in her role as administration assistant. In addition, she is responsible for the Chair’s scheduling and travel coordinator and is the first point of contact for all inquiries to the Chair.

Andrea Murphy, PharmD
Andrea Murphy has been assisting the chair in the development of programs related to psychopharmacoepidemiology and knowledge translation.  This includes evidence-based decision making, research utilization, innovation diffusion, knowledge transfer, research dissemination, research implementation, and research uptake.

Alan McLuckie
Alan McLuckie is clinical social worker and registered family therapist who specializes in child and adolescent mental health issues that impact school functioning. His PhD research focuses on parenting stress and child/adolescent mental health issues. He is currently a researcher with the Sun Life Financial Chair In Adolescent Mental Health team (supported by the IWK and Dalhousie) where he is involved in school mental health research. Alan also supervises the Family Therapy Training and Consultation Program offered by the IWK Health Centre and Dalhousie University, Department of Psychiatry.

Jeff O'Neill
Jeff O’Neill is the program and networks coordinator for the Chair on all areas surrounding health promotion. He is responsible for coordinating the Educators Advisory Committee and Academy in School Mental Health Advisory Committee; as well as providing increased exposure to programs and materials developed by the Chair throughout the country.


Yifeng Wei
Yifeng Wei holds a Master’s Degree in Education from York University. She is the coordinator of the school mental health initiatives of the chair and also helps develop programs that integrate mental health into the education system, such as the High School and Mental Health Curriculum Guide as well as conducting school mental health research.

Jessica Wishart
Jessica Wishart is the youth outreach coordinator. As a member of the Chair’s team she is coordinating the work of the Youth Advisory Committee, as well as develops youth engagement programs.
