Mental Health Repository
There are many school mental health programs available from different vendors around the globe. It’s often difficult to determine which of these programs will best reflect the needs of your organization, and usually it is not possible to know if they are effective or safe for use in schools. Many have not been properly independently evaluated, and the marketing materials accompanying these programs are not necessarily reflective of their value. Feedback from educators to the Chair has identified the need for scientifically sound independent analysis from appropriate experts to be able to determine the effectiveness and safety of these programs.
The Sun Life Financial Chair in Adolescent Mental Health is working on securing funding to develop this needed evaluation capacity so that we can create a trustworthy independent and scientifically valid repository in which these programs are evaluated and the information is made freely available. At this time, the Chair is able to respond to a limited number of requests from educators, educational institutions or governments to provide the kind of systematic evaluation needed for decision makers to determine if a particular program is effective or safe. Educators, institutions or governments who would like the Chair team to evaluate specific programs can request us to do so. Information on how to access this service and the attendant costs can be obtained by clicking here to email us.
As the Chair evaluates programs, the results of the evaluation will be posted on this site no earlier than three months after the evaluation report has been received by the commissioning organization. From time to time, the Chair will post evaluations it has conducted on its own.
