School Mental Health Framework
“Nova Scotia School Mental Health Framework” is a project that brings together key players from the five provincial departments: education, health, health promotion and prevention, community services, justice, and school boards to address a unified provincial approach to mental health in schools. The project aims to develop a framework to guide school mental health activities in Nova Scotia schools.
The project held its’ first provincial meeting on Dec 03, 2009 to discuss key issues regarding mental health promotion, prevention, and intervention. A working group and advisory group were established as a result of the meeting to work on the five identified themes, including: mental health literacy, resources, collaboration and communication, care interface, and strategies for development and dissemination. Currently, we are in the process of developing the framework and will share the final product by early 2011.
